The Village of Jackson Center has a 1.50% income tax. What is this tax used for; the first 1.25% of the revenue from this tax is used for the purpose of general municipal operations, constructions, maintenance of new equipment, extension and enlargement of municipal services and facilities and capital improvements. The last .25% of the revenue from this tax is used for the purpose of construction, repair and improvements to the wastewater treatment facilities and water treatment facilities. Taxes are due on or before April 15th of each year. The Village of Jackson Center is a mandatory filing community. This means that even if you did not have income for the year, or; if at any point in time during the year, lived in Jackson Center or worked in Jackson Center; you are required to file an Income Tax Return for Village Income Tax.
Effective November 1, 2008, the Village contracted with the Regional Income Tax Agency (R.I.T.A.) for the collection of municipal income tax. R.I.T.A. is a non-profit governmental agency established in 1971 under chapter 167 of the Ohio Revised Code and is the largest municipal income tax collection agency in the State of Ohio. The Village of Jackson Center chose the Regional Income Tax Agency to offer the ability for on-line filing and to maximize the Village’s tax collection efforts. R.I.T.A. is responsible for the administration and collection of all income taxes and serves as an Agent of the Village of Jackson Center in this capacity.
If you have just moved to Jackson Center, we request that you complete the "Individual Registration Form" that is found below. This form gives R.I.T.A. all of the information they need to know to get you set up. You will need to let your employer know that they will need to withhold the Jackson Center Municipal Income Tax from your wages if they are not already.
If you are a company doing business or performing a service in Jackson Center, we request that you complete the "Business Registration Form" that is found below. This form gives R.I.T.A. all of the information they need to get your business set up and also lets them know any subcontractors that work for you as well.
All Village of Jackson Center tax payments and tax forms, for current or prior tax years are to be sent to R.I.T.A. Tax filings and payments can be completed online at www.ritaohio.com or by mail. Checks or money orders should be payable to the Regional Income Tax Agency or R.I.T.A. Please include your Social Security Number or Federal Identification Number on all payments and correspondence.
Beginning October 1, 2018 taxpayers who elect to pay their municipal income tax bills by credit or debit card will incur a 2.75% service charge. This fee is charged by a third party vendor per credit card transaction and is not paid to RITA. Please note that this service charge applies only to credit or debit card transactions. Taxpayers electing to pay by check or via ACH will not incur this service charge.
